William L. Flickner, 90, of Franklin, PA, formerly of Central City, died October 16th at home. Born December 28, 1934 in Rocky Grove, PA, son of Olan S. Flickner and Violet Peffer Flickner Neidel. Preceded in death by parents, step-mothers Margaret and Bonnie, son Ricky L., Sister Bonnie and husband Bob, brother Bob, niece Gail and former spouse Judy Flickner. Graduated in 1953 from Rocky Grove High School and enlisted in the US Army Airborne, serving three years. He was employed by the US Postal Service for 30 years, starting in Oil City, PA and ending as postmaster in Central City, Somerset and Bedford post offices. He was a former owner of the Sunshine Tavern in Central City. He then worked for Pioneer Energy Products in Oil City, retiring in 2014.He attended Central City and Reno United Methodist church. He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Palanes, Central City, Kelly (Sam) Maddy, Stoystown and Rhonda Chappell of N,Huntington. Grandchildren, Adam (Kaitlyn) Maddy, Eric (Jessica) Maddy and Cassidy Chappell (Nate Graboski) and great-grandchildren, Cole, Carter and Ezra. He is also survived by his brothers Beryl and Paul (Ellen) of Oil City. He had one stepbrother, Vic Garmong and three stepsisters, Nancy, Paula and Leslie, cousins Doris, Jeff and Cheri Speer, daughter-in-law, Renee and sister-in-law, Eleanor. Also survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service at 11:00, Friday, October 24, at Mulcahy Funeral Home and burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Central City.
