Gromack, Sophie, 98, Cairnbrook, passed away on September 19, 2020 at home. Born November 26, 1921 on a farm in Shade Township to Charles and Pauline (Moskowska) Wallace. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Walter; brothers, Stanley, William, Edward and Chester; sisters, Blanche, Helen and Victoria. Last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by daughter, Geraldine (Gigi) and several nieces and nephews and longtime family friend, Russell Boyer. Sophie retired from Bestform as a stamper after 25 years having worked at both the Windber and Industrial Park locations. During WWII she worked several years in Bridgeport, Conn. packing bullets for US troops at Remington-Rand Company. Special thank you to longtime caregivers, Anita, Diane and Louanne for all their loving care. Also a special thanks to Elaine and the entire Windber Hospice staff for their dedication to Sophie’s care. Private visitation will be held at the Mulcahy Funeral Home. Private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church (Sacred Heart), Fr. Aron Maghsoudi celebrant. Committal, Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
