Sankovitch, Sophia, 88, Central City, died February 24, 2018 at home. Born March 29, 1929, the daughter of Stanley and Mary Pasierb. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Robert; infant sister, Bronoslawa; brothers, Stanley, Stephen, Joseph and sister Helen Knapp. Survived by children, Robert M. (Elaine); William T.; Jeffrey (Elizabeth); Suzanne (Gregory) Wilk; Philip (Jody); grandchildren, Jill, Benjamin, Nathan, Joseph, Laura, Melinda, Sarah, Katherine, and Margaret; great-grandchildren, Marcston, Michael, Lily, Cole, Jade, Colton, and Eric. Sister of Edward, Genevieve Harwood, and Agnes Lorenzen. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including special niece Joanne Knapp. Sophie served as a catechism teacher and sacristan at her church for over 50 years. She was a member of the Ladies Guild and choir. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and preparing polish dishes. Sophie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and a caring friend to many others. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Mulcahy Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady Queen of Angels (St. John’s), Fr. Aron Maghsoudi and Fr. Brian Warchola.
