Michael Strongosky

Strongosky, Michael, 91, Central City, died April 24, 2019. Born May 18, 1927, son of Nicholas and Christina Strongosky. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, and these brothers and sisters; Stephen, Mary, Nicholas, Kay, and Ann. Survived by sisters, Helen, Christina, and Irene; and brothers, Tom and George; and several nieces and nephews. Michael was fondly known to many as “Stringy”. He served in the US Navy during WW II April 21, 1945 to July 30, 1946. He was assigned to the Construction Battalion “Sea Bees” stationed in the South Pacific. Based on his training as a carpenter in the Sea Bees, carpentry became his life-long occupation. He was a charter member of VFW Post 7457 and a member of American Legion Post 449. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at the Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City, where a funeral service will be sung at 7 p.m. On Wednesday, May 1, a Panachida will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Divine Liturgy will be sung at 10 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul’s Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, by the Very Reverend Miles Zdinak and Deacon Oleg Aminov. Committal will be at the Church Cemetery. Graveside military rites by Central City VFW and American Legion Posts. Family and friends, who wish, may make donations may be made to SS Peter and Paul’s Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, 149 Wheeler Street, Central City, Pennsylvania 15926.
