Stefanik, Michael J., 83, Central City, passed away peacefully, April 3, 2019, in the company of family and friends. Born October 28, 1935 in Central City, son of Michael and Anna (Goga) Stefanik. Preceded in death by parents and brother-in-law, John Bihun. Survived by loving wife of 33 years, Barbara (Manges) Stefanik; his children, Linda Miller; Brenda (Joseph) Pacifico; Kimberly Stefanik; step-son, Lee Manges; sister, Nancy (James) Conjelko; niece, Pamela (David) Roe; nephew, Brian (Amy) Conjelko; grandchildren, Cassandra Pacifico, Christian Pacifico, BreAnn DeWitt and Hope Brock; great-granddaughter, Avery DeWitt; and two very special friends, Keith and Tracy Bowser. Michael served in the U.S. Marine Corps, attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and University of Maryland. Michael retired from Chestnut Ridge School District after teaching music for 30 years. Michael was an accomplished musician and played with many groups in the area. He enjoyed playing polkas for various festivals. His instrument of choice was the saxophone. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, with evening devotion at 7:30 p.m. at Robert F. Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City. Brief service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, at Robert F. Mulcahy Funeral Home and Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Central City, Rev. Paul Yanke. Committal Parish Cemetery. Graveside military rites by Central City VFW and American Legion Posts.
