Michael Bednar Obituary

Bednar, Michael J. “Mack”, 96, Cairnbrook, died December 23, 2017 at home. Born August 24, 1921, son of the late Michael and Anna (Pero) Bednar. Preceded in death by wife, Helen; sisters, Anna, Mary, Helen, Dorothy; brothers, Andrew and Joseph. Survived by daughter, Patricia (Victor) Foltz; grandchildren, Victor (Deborah); Michael (Regina); Alyssa (Keith) Lauer; Michele (Greg); and Douglas (Melissa); great-grandchildren, Gianna, Madysan, Michenzie, Taylor, Cameron, Addison, Brady, and Reagan; sisters, Agnes Palya and Bernadine Zell; and a number of nieces and nephews. Retired member of the UMWA Local 6410 and Penn Machine Co. Former owner of the Ferrellton Country Market. Mack was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of WWII. A recipient of four Battle Stars for action against the enemy at Bougainville, Iwo Jima, Guam, and Sol Island. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady Queen of Angels (St. John’s), Father Aron Maghsoudi. Committal, St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
