Mary Ann Doxey

Doxey, Mary Ann, 91 of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 29, 2023. Her family was with her when she went to be with the Lord. She was born February 11, 1932, in Rockingham, Pennsylvania. One of twelve children that grew up in the depression era. Daughter of Czechoslovakian immigrants and a family of coal miners. She grew up and went to school in Central City, Pennsylvania. Moved to Floral Park, New York in the 1950’s where she met her future husband, John. Married on November 6, 1966. Moved around Long Island New York until she retired to Johnstown, Pennsylvania in 1995 where she lived for 18 years. She moved to Bristow, Virginia in 2013 after the passing of her husband to be closer to her family and beloved grandson, Connor. Mary was a generous, strong minded and very religious woman. Forever a country girl that loved to watch Mother Angelica and Gold Rush, as well as her grandson play baseball and perform karate. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Kuzma) Hancharik. Preceded in death by parents; Husband, John A. Doxey, who died on March 11, 2013; Sisters: Elizabeth, Ann, Pauline, Helen and Verna; and Brothers: John, Joseph, Mike, George, and Andrew. Survived by children: Thomas, married to Christa (Liptak); grandchild: Connor. A celebration of life funeral mass will be held on November 3, 2023 at 1:30pm at Our Lady of Angels Chapel, 162 Wheeler Street, Central City, PA.
