Joyce A. Ferko, 70, passed away peacefully at her home on November 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on February 10, 1955, to William and Esther (Larson) Nosel.
A 1973 graduate of Shade High School and attended business school in Greensburg, PA, Joyce began her career working for the U.S. Navy in Mechanicsburg and Shanksville-Stonycreek School District before devoting herself to being a stay-at-home mom — a role she cherished deeply.
Joyce was married to Patrick Ferko for 47 wonderful years. Together, they raised two children: Patrick Ferko, married to Heather (Tyson) of York, PA, and Jenny, married to Nick Damin of Ebensburg, PA. Joyce was the proud grandmother of Emily and Isaak Ferko and Olivia and Roman Damin, who were the light of her life.
She is survived by her mother, Esther Nosel, and her sisters Judy (Joe) Moslak and Janet (Tom) Will.
Helping others wasn’t just something Joyce did — it was who she was. She was the ultimate volunteer and a constant source of kindness to others in her community. Joyce loved watching Jeopardy!, playing trivia, enjoying a hot cup of tea with her many friends, and spending hours by her backyard pond. Her memory will always be as comforting as a cup of hot tea shared with a friend.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday November 11, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mulcahy Funeral Home in Central City. A Funeral Service will be held 11 am Wednesday at Graef Lutheran Church, The Very Rev. Jeffrey Bassette. Committal St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
