Joseph J. Bednar

Bednar, Joseph J. “Sam,” 90, Central City, died July 28, 2017.  Born January 22, 1927, in Central City, the son of Michael and Anna Bednar.  Preceded in death by parents; son, Michael; granddaughter, Kayla; sisters, Annie Shenigo, Dorothy Grey, Mary Witkecz, Helen Drapelick; and brother, Andy.  Survived by brother, Michael; sisters, Agnes Palya, and Bernadine Zell; grandson, Garet Bednar; and a number of nieces and nephews.  U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving on the USS Grady and was awarded four battle stars.  A member of UMWA Local 6410.  Private committal services will be held at the convenience of the family.  www.mulcahyfuneralhome.com.
