John Wambach Obituary

Wambach, John James - John was born in Paris, France during World War II and was raised in Baltimore, MD.  He died very peacefully at his home on December 16, 2023, in Central City, PA with his loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy (Dneaster) and family.   He was preceded in death by his parents John F. and Laura V. Wambach.  John is survived by his sister Francine of Dundalk, MD.; two sons, Jim Wambach (wife Amy) of Midlothian, VA and Jeff Wambach (wife Tracy) of Noblesville, IN and three grandchildren Abby, Tyler, and Max Wambach.   The Wambach family would like to give a special thanks to Tom and Pam Koback for always being there for John. In the 1960’s John began working for US Steel in Dundalk, MD and later worked for the US Postal Service. For three decades, John was a manager of Mason's Department Store, Value City, Rite Aid, and Danville Memorial Gardens.  Before retirement, he worked at Walmart in the sporting goods department.  John was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Danville, VA, where he was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, served on the Parish Council, and was an Usher.    His favorite hobbies were fishing and going to the Casino, but his biggest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “356 Hospice” in Carrollton, PA or Central City Fire Department. John will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at Danville Memorial Gardens, in Danville , VA,  at a later date.
