John Fusina Obituary

Fusina, John “Rocky”, 90, Davidsville, died January 1, 2017 at Somerset Hospital. Born November 7, 1926 in Hooversville, son of the late Celeste and Theresa (Tassi) Fusina. Preceded in death by his wife, the former Josephine Klimek, who passed away January 6, 2007; brothers, Joseph and wife Lillian; Rudy and wife Della; Louie and wife Dorothy; and Robert and wife Frances; sisters, Mary (Domenico) Fuschino and Eleanor (Francis) Kovak; father and mother-in-law, Anthony and Nellie Klimek; brothers-in-law, Andy, Charles, and infant Anthony; and sister-in-law, Nellie; nieces, Phyllis and Carol; nephews, Joseph, Robert, and David. Survived by sister-in-law, Mary Pondo. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. John was a retired carpenter, having been employed by Saylor Brothers and Iron City Sash and Door. A World War II Navy veteran, he served aboard the USS Midway. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, baseball, and pinochle. A quiet and kind natured man, who was always willing to lend a helping hand. John loved his home in Davidsville, having built it himself with his wife Josephine’s help, and especially loved all the neighbors and friends he made there, including his church family. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus. A special thank you from the family to all family, friends, and neighbors who helped him in these later years of need. The extraordinary kindness and care he received in the Somerset ER and on the third floor was heartfelt and greatly appreciated, as well as the care he received from caregiver, Sonia. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm Thursday at the Mason Funeral Home, Davidsville, where vigil will be prayed at 5 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am Friday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Father John M. Voytek. Committal, St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery. Graveside military rights by Menoher VFW Post 155. In lieu of flowers, family asks donations be made to St. Anne’s Catholic Church or St. Francis Sharing and Caring Building Fund, both of Davidsville, PA. www.mulcahyfuneralhome.com
