Gloria Fuschino Obituary

Gloria Fuschino, fondly known as Corky, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024 surrounded by her sisters and niece. Corky was born on March 23, 1935. She is the daughter of Domenick and Mary (Fusina) Fuschino and was the 7th child of 11.She lived a majority of her life in Hooversville but most recently was a resident of Windber Woods. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Joseph ”Josie,” Donald “Mac,” and John Fuschino and her sisters, Phyllis Skobal, Lillian “Yi” Stevenson, Virginia “Ginny” Hull, and Carol Taylor. Also preceded in death by her beloved great-niece Zoe Taylor. She is survived by her sisters, Marie Bloom and Teresa Petronick of Hooversville, Erma Mayak of Somerset, and sister-in-law Barb Fuschino of Windber; also survived by Damien and Aurora Taylor and over 100 nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Corky was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a Penn State fan and really enjoyed scratch-off lottery tickets. She was the Treasurer for the Holy Family Church.  She worked at Cee Bees/Riverside in Hooversville, Acme Store in Somerset, and Gee Bee Department Store in both Somerset and Johnstown. She was an excellent cook and always prepared the family holiday meals. Family meant the world to Corky.

Corky lived with and took care of her mother until she passed in 1999.She loved her family and was always willing to help any family member in need. She cared for her sister Carol’s children when Carol passed as well as Carol’s granddaughter Zoe whom she helped raise as her own granddaughter. She enjoyed going to the movies with her nieces and nephews and was always open to road trips to see family for weddings, funerals or whatever occasion might call for travel.

After their mother passed, Corky and her local sisters would meet weekly to say the Rosary together until she moved to Central City. She was the Godmother to many of her nieces and nephews.

There will be a Funeral Mass at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Hooversville on Friday, November 8 at 11AM
