Luschkowski, Gerd, 85, Cairnbrook, died April 22, 2023 at home. Born July 17, 1937 in Germany, the son of Wilhelm and Uelinka Luschkowski. Survived by wife, Kathleen; children, Brian (Becky), Patrick, Laura (Don), Stacie (Steve), Steven (Mandy), Jessica (Joe); grandchildren, Brent, Heather, Bryce, Ron, Annie, Jesse, Matthew, Nathaniel, Charles, Savannah, Courtney, Julianna; brothers, Holger and Helmut.
In 1993 Gerd and Kathie became guardians of their granddaughter, Keri, and in 2003 they adopted her as Annie Elizabeth.
Gerd was a mechanic at Consolidated Coal Company, carpenter for Sanbower Builders, custodian at Conemaugh Hospital, and most recently was part of the Market Basket family that he treasured. He was a jack of all trades, master of none, but he would say "I no plumber"
His quirky smile and unique accent masked a heart of pure gold. He never said no to anyone that needed help. There weren't many things Gerd didn't love, but he especially loved his family, grandkids, the beach, and his truck. He had the hands of a giant, but built things for the kids that brought them such joy. The nail might not have been straight, but Gerd's level said it was. Any skill he had he taught to all his children.
The family would like to give thanks to Windber Hospice, especially Elaine, Marie, Erica and Steve. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Winder Hospice.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Mulcahy Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady Queen of Angels (Sacred Heart), Father Aron Maghsoudi Celebrant.
Our final tribute to Gerd, as he began each project, "My battery is dead".
