George Edward Stiffler, formerly of Johnstown, PA, passed away on 19 October 2025 in Tucson, AZ. He was born on 3 November 1949 in Colver, PA, to Earl and Jacqueline Stiffler. George is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara (Sankovich Craig), and her children: Angela Craig; Amy (Alex) Joannou and their children Evan and Athena; and Joseph (Ozlem) Craig and their children Rhys and Regina. He is also survived by his daughter Jennifer; sisters Linda (Frank) Kulesa and Genevieve Nies; nephews James, Rod, Greg, Doug, and Tom; and 15 grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Nedra (Taylor), his son Matthew, and his brother James. George graduated from Conemaugh Valley High School and went on to serve honorably for six years in the Pennsylvania National Guard. He dedicated 25 years to the Ferndale Borough Police Department in Johnstown, PA, followed by 15 years at United Parcel Service. His mother Jacqueline, born in France, instilled her heritage in her children during their school years. George also cherished a remarkable memory of meeting Albert Einstein while visiting his aunt in Princeton, NJ. A devoted outdoorsman, George enjoyed fishing and deer hunting with his son, brother, and nephews in Western Pennsylvania, returning each fall from Arizona to continue the tradition. He was equally passionate about his Harley-Davidson, traveling across the United States and attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rallies. In quieter moments, he remained a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Aron Maghsoudi at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Central City, PA, on Saturday, 18 April 2026, at 10:00 AM. Visitation will take place at Robert F. Mulcahy Funeral Home, 305 Central Avenue, Central City, PA. prior to the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, with lunch afterward at Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cairnbrook Food Bank. To honor George’s memory, guests are invited to bring a non-perishable food item to Robert F. Mulcahy Funeral Home, where the family will gather before the Funeral Mass beginning at 9:00 AM on 18 April 2026.
