Barta, George A., 93, Cairnbrook, died March 23, 2016, at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. Born May 17, 1922, the son of Andrew and Margaret (Slage) Barta. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Minnie; son, Frank; brothers, Louis, Ernie, Albert and Pete; sisters, Lillian and Mary. Survived by sons, George Jr. (Margaret), Friedens; Gerry (Kathy), Somerset; and Timothy (Carol), Colorado; 12 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Elmer, Cairnbrook; and a number of nieces and nephews. George was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a former POW. He was a life member of VFW Post 554 and a proud member of UMWA Local 6410. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City, and from 12:30 until time of service at 1 p.m. Monday at Graef Lutheran Church, Cairnbrook, the Rev.
