Cook, Dr. Wayne Bruce, Alexandria, VA, formerly of Central City, passed away February 18, 2017, in Alexandria. Born August 4, 1943, the son of Albert Beam and Winifred Eileen (Gray) Cook. Preceded in death by parents; and dear friend, Bill Davis. Survived by brothers, David Ryan and wife, Sandy; and Ronald Lee and wife Debbie; nieces and nephews, David, Sandra, Terri, Barry and Jeff. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh and the American University (B.S./M.S.) where he taught and obtained his PhD. Wayne was a member of Phi Theta Cappa Academic Fraternity, Sons of the American Revolution and Sons of Union Veterans. He worked on Capital Hill for numerous Senators and Congressmen. He then went on to work at the G.F.A. and National Archives where he presented various historical programs that came from his research. He did involved genealogy, including many local families.
