Charles Lewandowski Obituary

Lewandowski, Charles F., 91, Central City, died April 11, 2017 at home.  Born May 3, 1925 in Annadale, Butler County, the son of Marcianna (Springel) and Constanti Lewandowski.  Preceded in death by parents; brother, Stanley, and sister, Sophie; brother, Edward and wife Irene (Kerekes); brother, Joseph and wife Lillian (Yania).  Survived by wife, the former Frances B. Trimeloni; and sons, Karl F., married to the former Patricia Bidner; Kenneth M., married to the former Donna Snyder; and Dennis T., married to the former Jill Newton.  Grandchildren, Brian, Marcianne, Michael, David, Lea, Christopher and William; Greatgrandchildren, Hudson and Arden.  Nephews, Michael, Mark and Mathew Trimeloni along with their families; and niece, Dorothy Bihun and family.  Also survived by sister, Jennie Sielczak.  Was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II serving with the 10th Army in Okinawa.  Recipient of the Good Conduct medal; American, Asiatic and Pacific theatre decorations with one Bronze Star and the Victory Medal.  Was employed by the Somerset County Assessment Office for 34 Years, and served on the board of appeals for 12 years.  Early in his career was employed by Reitz Coal Co. for 13 years.  Served on Central City Borough Council for 36 years, 34 of those as president, and a term as Mayor.  Member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish (formerly Sacred Heart of Jesus), VFW Post 7457, American Legion Post 449, Knights of Columbus Council #9109, PNA Lodge 1878, Shade-Central City Chamber of Commerce, and the AARP.  Traveled to most of the states in the U.S. including Hawaii; some of Canada, and the European countries of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and Italy.  Friends will be received from 6-8 PM Friday at the Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City.  Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM Saturday at Our Lady Queen of Angels (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church, Father Aron Maghsoudi officiating.  Committal, Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.  Graveside military rites by Central City American Legion and VFW Posts. www.mulcahyfuneralhome.com.
