Hilshansky, Catherine, “Kay”, 87, Central City, died May 27, 2016. Born February 9, 1929 in Pine Hill. Preceded in death by mother, Mary; husband, Mike; and son Michael. Survived by daughter, Barbara Ciarolla, Central City; granddaughter, Dawnlynn (Terry) O’Connor, North Dakota; Great-grandson, Sean Patrick, ND; brother, Irwin Uherek; sisters, Shirley Dudura and Alice Thiem, all of Pittsburgh. Kay was very active in local affairs. She was the first woman elected to borough council and served as President. Former member of the Somerset County Redevelopment Authority. She sat on many local boards, including the park board and was instrumental in developing many of the functions that are still carried on today, including Heritage Days. Kay was very active in her church and a true artist when it came to “Psyanky” eggs at Easter. Friends will be received from 6-8 pm Wednesday at Mulcahy Funeral Home where brief service will be held at 9:30 am Thursday followed at 10 am by funeral service at Holy Assumption of St. Mary Orthodox Church, Fr.
