Haggerty, Catherine “Kusha”, 92, Cairnbrook, died March 27, 2019 at Windber Hospice. Born February 13, 1927 in Cairnbrook, the daughter of John and Sophie Yurkow. She was the last surviving member of her family. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Jesse; brothers, John, Mike, and Walter; sisters, Mary, Anne, Julia, Stella, and Jenny; son-in-law, Steve Tranovich; and great-granddaughter, Haley Tranovich. Survived by children, Kathleen (Gerd) Luschkowski; Robert (Linda) Haggerty; Marie Haggerty; and Michael (fiance, Diane) Haggerty; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her “special” sister, Genevieve Berezonsky. Kusha was a retired teacher for the Central City Head Start program. Baba was loved by everyone who knew her. She was famous her apple pies, perogies, halupki, and jellies. You were always welcomed in her home with good food and laughter. She loved the Blessed Virgin Mary and was never without her rosary. She was proud of her faith and Polish heritage. She could fluently speak Polish, Slovak, and Russian. She loved to travel and visited Poland with family members. Friends will be received from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday at the Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church (Sacred Heart), Fr. Aron Maghsoudi, celebrant. Committal, Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
