Betty Jo Manges

Manges, Betty Jo (Setar), 88, Central City, passed on, June 2, 2017.  Born April 20, 1929 in her grandparents’ home.  Daughter of the late John and Anna (Levchik) Setar.  Preceded in death by husband, Alvin, in 1991; brother, Charles, in 2015; and former husband, Don Blackburn, in 2004.  Survived by loving sons, D. Scott Blackburn; and Jon Blackburn; and numerous relatives and friends.  Anna, Betty’s mom, resided with her from 1965 until she went to be with the Lord in 1994, and was a blessing to everyone who knew her.  After graduating from Shade High School in 1947, Betty resided in NJ and continued her education at NYU.  She was employed as an analytical chemist for Pioneer, Weston and DuPont Laboratories.  She returned to Cairnbrook in 1953, got married and was employed by Sears in Johnstown where she helped initiate the first Sears telephone shopping department.  Betty will be remembered for her love and devotion to family and friends, her love of life, her kindness, generosity, and her smile which lit up the hearts of those who knew her.  She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.  Betty was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society and Lodge 109 Loyal Christian Benefit Association.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City, where panachida will be sung at 7 p.m.  Funeral service will be sung at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Assumption of St. Mary Orthodox Church, Rev.
