Soho, Helen, 91, formerly of Central City, died July 4, 2015, at Laurelwood Care Center, Johnstown.  A longtime resident of Central City, she was born June 8, 1924, the daughter of John and Nancy (Russian) Kaniuk.  Preceded in death by parents; husband Joseph, who passed away Sept. 10, 1985; special niece, Nancy Fisher; sisters, Martha, Mary Chinoski (Louis), Anna Russian (Frank), Magdalene Nestranski (George), and Lula Swantek (Al); and brothers, Andrew, George (Sue), Frank (Stacey), Charles (Mary), and Nick (Dorothy).  Survived by daughter, Sue Ellen Gresko, and son-in-law, Anthony, Johnstown; stepgrandson, Derek Gresko, and wife, Jessica, Virginia; loving sister, Eva Cook; sisters-in-law, Julia Margetiak, Pauline Keller, Margaret Foltin, and Jean Soho; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Helen had a strong work ethic throughout her life.  She was a caregiver at St. Francis Home for Orphaned Boys in Michigan, worked as a welder during World War II at National Radiator Co., a nanny in Westmont, a sewing machine operator at Dorfman and Hoffman in Cairnbrook, a cafeteria worker at Shade High School, and for 15 years was a nurse’s aide at the former Maple Mountain Manor in Berlin. A member of Central City Assembly of God.  She was an avid Steelers fan, she appreciated the beauty of nature and enjoyed reading and watching old movies.  Helen was a very kind, caring and compassionate woman who deeply loved her family and friends.  A special thank you to the staff at Laurelwood for their dedication and unending loyalty in caring for Helen in her final years of life.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City, and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Central City Assembly of God, Pastor Glenn Rousselle.
