SCIRANKO---Elizabeth "Betty," 96, Central City, died January 27, 2015. Born September 20, 1918, daughter of George and Mary (Sabo) Furcho. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Andrew; daughter-in-law, Sandra; and 12 brothers and sisters. Survived by her children, Nancy (John) O'Ship, Central City; Robert, Maryland; Cynthia (John) Findley, Central City; grandchildren, Michael (Joni) O'Ship; Mark (Maria) O'Ship; Dale, Andrew and Ashley Sciranko; Eric (Amy) Findley; Denice (Michael) Umbleby; Tracey (Kevin) Valine; 15 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Betty was an avid Shae football fan and was very active with the Somerset County and Central City Democratic Clubs. She was a recipient of the Shade-Central City Woman of the Year award. She was a longtime member of the Shade-Central City Historical Society. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Robert F. Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Chestnut Street, Johnstown, Pastor Kenneth Kelly officiating. Committal will follow at SS. Peter and Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Central City. Friends who wish may make contributions to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or Shade High School Athletic Fund in Betty's memory. Sending our sincere sympathy to all the family. I remember "Rusty" as one of Aunt Vicki Wilson's best friends and have known her since I was a little girl. Enjoyed being with her at many Shade games and always chatting with her at Heritage Days. She will be missed.
