NOWAK----Joseph S., 88, Central City, died January 24, 2015. Born April 5, 1926, the son of Julian and Sophie Nowak. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Steve, John and Stanley; and sisters, Helen and Sister Marie O.S.F. Survived  by wife of 64 years, the former Dorothy A. Balog; children, Debra (Rudolf) Acs, Friedens; Cynthia Hunt, Central City; and Ronald (Marie), North Carolina; 6 grandsons, 2 great-grandsons, 1 great-granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews. Joseph was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a former coal miner and retired mechanic with the Quigley Company, Old Bridge, New Jersey. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Graef Lutheran Church, Cairnbrook, Pastor Lois Ryan officiating.
